Dr. Dre Antono grew up in the Bay Area in California and moved to North Carolina with his family at the end of high school. He went to college at NC State University, studying Biology and Spanish. He then attended University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, where he earned his medical degree and Masters in Public Health in 2019. He then completed his residency training at the Mountain Area Health Education Center (MAHEC) in 2023 here in Asheville.
During his training he has developed an interest in preventive care, group prenatal care, in-office procedures, and minimally invasive surgery (including robotic-assisted surgery with the DaVinci system).
Dr. Antono’s goal is to support his patients in their individual health journeys through shared decision-making. He will partner with patients by listening to their concerns, providing evidence-based recommendations and guidance in order to achieve their unique goals.
Dr. Antono and his wife (who is a nurse) moved to Asheville at the beginning of his residency training in 2019. They met before medical school through an alumni group for a nonprofit called Bike & Build. Previously, they had separately cycled over 4000 miles across the United States with Bike & Build. It is their love of the outdoors that united them, and that eventually led them to settle in the Asheville area.
When he is not working, Dr. Antono loves spending time with his family at home or at a local trail. He and his wife are welcoming their second child in the summer of 2023. They hope to share their sense of adventure and love for the outdoors with their children!
