As a mother in her early stages of parenthood, I appreciate this eye-opening experience and believe it has really added an extra notch to my belt as a physician and women’s health specialist. And as such, I look forward to working with families to help guide them through pregnancy and throughout other life stages from adolescents to older woman care.
Dr. Rita Kaplon grew up in Johnson City, TN and has resided in Asheville, NC since the summer of 2019.
She attended Oberlin College in Ohio where she earned her B.A. in neuroscience and a minor in Chemistry. Besides excelling in her studies, she was also all conference and team captain of Oberlin’s volleyball team.
Dr. Kaplon received her medical degree at The Ohio State University in 2015 before completing her residency at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina in 2019.
Dr. Kaplon and her husband moved to Asheville with their toddler to join Laurel OB/GYN in 2019. She is a proud mother who keeps busy with her son in various toddler-friendly activities around Asheville and the outdoors.
Providing evidenced-based care women’s health has been a passion of Dr. Kaplon’s since her late teens. She values patient autonomy and prioritizes shared decision making with her patients, therefore, ensuring they feel empowered and aware of their health.
Outside of practicing medicine, Rita enjoys spending time with her family and friends as well as cooking and hiking.
