Brooke Smith is a native of Asheville. While she and her family have lived  throughout the state of NC, the mountains have always called them home.

Brooke studied at Appalachian State University and worked in the social services/volunteer management field for several years before deciding to pursue a career in ultrasound.  In addition to her degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography, she also holds specialty registries in Obstetrical and Gynecological ultrasound and Pediatric Sonography through the ARDMS.  Additionally, she is a Registered Vascular Specialist, credentialed through CCI. 

Brooke joined the Laurel family officially in fall of 2019, but spent many years with the practice in a former position. Prior to Laurel, Brooke worked at the UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill and was with Mission Health for several years. 

While at Mission, Brooke worked closely with several departments and managed Regional Ultrasound services, High Risk OB ultrasound, Vascular ultrasound, as well as other radiology departments. She worked directly with physicians and developed educational materials to improve ultrasound quality for the WNC region. However, Brooke deeply missed interacting with patients and being a part of the clinical team. So in August, 2019, Brooke joined the Laurel team as the staff sonographer. 

She is married to her best friend Alan and they have two sons, Brady and Levi. Much of their time is spent playing sports and enjoying the outdoors. She also loves the NC Tarheels!
